Thinking On Things

I have been thinking about some things in my life. I guess I doubt so much of my life; my relationships, my mother, my degree path, my life in general. I talk to Marietta’s grandmother about it. I still can’t believe I called her. She was the first person who popped into my head when I was thinking about how I was feeling.

She talked to me like I was her granddaughter. It felt good to have her talk to me like that. I told her everything I was feeling. I talked for a long while, too. I didn’t realize that that much was wrong with me.

She talked to me for a long while afterwards. I the one thing I realized most after talking to her, is that I need to find a church home. I hadn’t even thought about that. Marietta and I haven’t been to church at school here. It’s easier to not go. I decided to find a church home.

I didn’t know where to begin, so I went to Student Services and asked them if they had something that could help me. they did. Fellowship of Christ Baptist Church has a ministry on the college campus. They have a service on the campus every Sunday morning. Marietta, EBB, Dillard, and I went to the service today.

I had a good time. It was fun, too. I am glad that Mama Jameson talked me into going to church. I am going to call her later on this week and tell her.

I still have things on my mind, but I feel a lot better about them.

A Full Moon

There is supposed to be a full moon tomorrow.

In English class, we were supposed to right about the effect of the full moon. I don’t even know if there are any effects from the full moon. Supposedly, it makes a person go crazy or become love sick. I don’t even know.

I guess if I had to write something about the full moon, I would have to say that it makes folk love sick. Here’s a brief story.

Amanda looked up at the moon. She smiled as a warm feeling filled her heart. She didn’t know what to make of the feeling as she walked off towards the bus stop. As she was walking, Derrick flashed before her eyes. Derrick was handsome, stylish, and rugged. He had never even given Amanda the time of day, but Amanda felt as if things would be different today. Perhaps it was the full moon.

By the time she reached her office building, she had made up her mind. She was going to walk by Derrick’s off and at least say hello. If he acknowledged her, it would be the chance she needed to make an impression. If he didn’t acknowledge her, she could at least say that she tried.

Amanda reached the hallway directly connected to Derrick’s office. She saw a crowd of people standing around breathless, panting and pining. She wondered what was going on. She asked one of the ladies standing in the hallway what was going on. The woman turned around, fanned herself, and said, “Oh my God, Derrick looks so hot today. He has on a new suit. He smells good. Oh my Lord.” Amanda shook her head. Everyone else must have been affected by the full moon.

Amanda turned to walk towards her office. As she turned the corner, she bumped into someone. She looked up. Standing in front of her was Derrick. He smiled at her, “Sorry about that. Are you okay?” She mumbled a response. Derrick flashed his expensive smile, “Ok, Amanda. See you later.” He walked off. Amanda almost fainted at the sound of her name. Derrick knew who she was. Awe, yes, the full moon has its effects.

Wrestling Seems So Fake These Days

I was watching wrestling with EBB the other day. It seems so fake these days. EBB says that it is scripted, not fake. It just doesn’t seem real to me. I don’t like watching it. I guess it’s really for kids, maybe. I don’t know. Oh well, sometimes, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Things Are Well

The job is going well. Life with EBB is well. Marietta is cool. I still miss my mom a lot. It’s hard to believe it has been a year since she died. It’s hard to believe that it has been a year since I graduated. Whew. Things have happened fast for me lately.

I was asked by my manager if I wanted to be in the management program. I haven’t answered her yet. She is cool peops. She seems to care about me and where I go in the company. It’s kind of cool. I have my professor to thank for the job. I am still thinking about the management program.

I went up to Caffco and saw EBB yesterday. It was great to see him. He has been working out. He is all swoll. I almost didn't recognize him.

4th of July

The 4th of July was fun. There was BBQ, games, music, and other stuff. It was all country, butit was cool.

I got chased by one of the farm hands because I dunked him in the dunking booth. When he caught me, he wet me all up. I had to walk around all wet.

If I have to go to one more church service down here in Uzziah, I am going to scream.  Everybody at this church is old.  Not that regular old that you can tolerate.  No, they are country old; which means that they move 10 times slower than regular old folk.

Where did they get these songs from?  They sound like regular songs, but they sing them so slowly that I know they made them up.

If I gotta drink one more glass of kool-aid flavored water around here, I am going to choke somebody.

How did I let Marietta talk me into this?

EBB called me.  He said that he missed me.  We didn't get to talk that long because he said the call was long distance.  He sounds like Marietta's grandfather… "Don't ya'll fast tail gurls be making no long distance phone calls on my phone."  He better stop calling me fast tail.  I'm gonna hide his cane from him.

I don't want to go to church down here tonight.  Somebody please help me.  Lord, where is a young evangelist when you need one?

It's Hot Down Here

Gone for A Month (He Don't Even Care)

It's official. Marietta and I are going to Uzziah. I found out that we are going to get room and board for working on the farm. Don't they have child labor laws in Uzziah?

I told EBB that I was going to Uzziah; he didn't even seem to care. He shrugged his shoulders and said, "Ok." Maybe I can find a hunky farm hand in Uzziah.

Summer, Summer Time

School is over and I won't see it again for 2 months. I am so glad. The classes are getting harder. Anyway. I am glad that it is over.

EBB is going home to Hardaway. I don't know if I will get to see him much. He says that he is going to be working with his uncle on a construction site. Marietta asked me if I wanted to go with her to visit her grandparents in Uzziah. I guess I will go do that.

Mad At Marietta

I can’t stand Marietta. She is sincerely tripping. She knows that I need her help to pass my classes. We have three classes together, Economics 2023, Accounting 2043, and Math 3003. I am also taking Management 4023.

My aunt told me that if I get a 4.0 this semester, she will get me a laptop. I am trying hard, too.

Marietta won’t help me study. Apparently, she needs to study by herself. She always does that. She has given me some study tips, but I still do better when she helps me. Oh well.

Why would all of the professors give me tests on the same week?

My Mother

My mother came to the college today. I was glad to see her. She has been sick for a month. She has cancer. She has been doing chemo. She was able to hang out with me for an hour before she had to leave. It was cool. She talked to EBB. She had both EBB and I laughing like crazy. That’s how she is… she has a great since of humor. She has everyone around her laughing.

I went with her a couple of times to go get chemo. She had the staff and patients laughing like crazy. My aunt usually goes with her. My mother has told me that I am not allowed to worry about her while I am in college. She always says, “Don’t worry about me. I am not going to die before I see you graduate.” She always smiles after she says that. My aunt didn’t want my mother to come visit me, but my mother insisted. My aunt is so protective of my mother. They are twins. They are tight like that. My aunt knew that my mother was sick before my mother did. My aunt told my mother to go to the hospital. My mother just laughed. She found out that she had cancer in December 2005, after she went to doctor. My aunt had to trick my mother into going to the hospital. That’s a long story.

Anyway, I was happy to see my mother today. It was cool. Marietta is mad because she didn’t get to see my mother.
