The Question of Lordship
Date: 4/9/06
Text: Matthew 21:28-32
Title: The Question of Lordship
- The Book of Matthew
- The book of Matthew is one most rooted in the Old Testament and most concerned with issues that were important to the Jewish people.
- It has been said that Matthew was the author of this book, although the author is not identified in the text
- There is more to salvation that just believing.
- It is believing and repenting.
- In the text, Jesus outwardly says that He is Lord.
- To be truly saved…
- Repent
- Believe
- Surrender
- Submit
- Obey
NOTES: Feeling sorry is not true repentance. True repentance means turning from the sin toward God.- Are you loyal to Your Lord?
My Personal Notes:Jesus must be Lord in my life. I must repent, believe, and surrender to Him in order to be saved.
My Personal Prayer:Lord, help me to recognize You as Lord in my life. Thank You for being Lord in my life.
Scripture: Matthew 21:28-3228: But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.
29: He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.
30: And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.
31: Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.
32: For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.
